This Just In: Virtual Gundo Comedy Festival Is a Go for This Week
Hey, friends of The El Segundo Scene! Just got word that El Segundo's best-known local comic and all-around terrific human, Dave Williamson, has scheduled a virtual Gundo Comedy Festival for this week! This is Dave's sixth year organizing a local comedy festival, and we are excited and delighted to learn that he's managed to put one together during this tough year---in virtual form!
I'll post some updates as the week goes on, but for now, here are the details, in Dave's own words:
WE'RE BACK!! We unfortunately were unable to have the 6th Annual Gundo Comedy Festival this past May, obviously due to Covid 19. After months of fine-tuning virtual shows, the comedy community has gotten pretty good at them and they are very fun. We reached out to some of our past festival venues that have been so great at supporting us, to see if we can support them during this economic downturn. We’ve decided to have a virtual festival this week, July 16-19. There will be one show per night hosted from a different venue each night. A cameraman and I will be at the venue to host, but the performers and audience will join virtually on Zoom. The line-up of comedians will be different each show and will include the same top tier talent you’ve come to expect from the traditional festival shows. Entrance will be free, but we’ll be giving opportunities for donations throughout the show to help each venue. RSVP at our website, and a ZOOM link will be sent to you before showtime.
