Things To Do in El Segundo This Weekend

OK, for starters: have you downloaded The El Segundo Scene app yet? It puts dozens of up-to-date, local cultural events right at your fingertips and on your phone. Give it a try! We bet it will lead you to an event or two you wouldn't have known about otherwise.

And now...on to this weekend in 90245! Today, Friday May 3, kicks off the Laurel & Hardy Festival at Old Town Music Hall on Richmond Street. Across the street at Deluca Pasta, enjoy live music tonight on their patio, with a side of something delicious and a glass of wine.

Tonight is also the ESHS solo and small-ensemble strings concert at The Little Theater at El Segundo High School, and opening night of "15 Reasons Not To Be in a Play" at the El Segundo Performing Arts Center (also in the high school), put on by local middle-schoolers.

We recently learned of the existence of Sam First jazz club and bar right near LAX, which has nightly live jazz performances just a five-minute drive away. Tonight it's The Tyler Blanton Trio.

Yet another option tonight is to get your karaoke on at The Standard Station.

Tomorrow, Saturday May 4th (and may the fourth be with you), is Bird LA Day at the Ballona Salt Marsh + Wetlands just down the road in PDR. It's also our annual Hometown Fair! Held right in front of the high school on Main Street and in Library Park. Always so fun for kids.

Hot Wheels Garage at the Automobile Driving Museum is tomorrow, too, and it's a dream-come-true for Hot Wheels-loving kids! There's also Mom's Day Out at The Point, "Let's Talk About Food" at ESMoA, and a sweet "Mijo de Mayo" mother-son dance at local yoga studio Happy Baby.

Sunday, May 5, check out Sausal's jazz brunch and bottomless mimosas, as well as the free family gardening workshop at International Garden Center on PCH. (This Sunday's workshop is called "It's All About Birds, Bugs, and Butterflies.")

That's just a sampling! Visit our Events page for more, or grab a print copy of the May issue next time you're out.

Happy weekend!
