ESHS Choir in Chi-Town
The El Segundo High School Choir takes Chicago by storm.
By Gianna Summers, choir director and AVID 9 teacher, ESHS
El Segundo High School (ESHS) Choir embarked on an amazing adventure this past March. Choir members attended the Windy City Choral Festival and explored the sights and sounds of Chicago together. Kicking off their tour, the choir performed at the Field Natural History Museum—which was breathtaking—followed by deep-dish pizza at Gino's! Our students conquered their fears at the John Hannock 360 TILT Experience and spent time with their fellow festival singers on the Spirit of Chicago Tour out of Navy Pier. With 10 hours of rehearsal, we also fit in Andy’s Jazz Club and an exploration of the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, The Bean, and much more!
ESHS Choir was the premiere choir at the festival, performing our solo concert to kick off the entire show. Representing El Segundo at the very highest level, our choir members sang with beauty and grace. Following their solo concert, our students performed with 200 other singers from around the country, under the direction of Z. Randall Stroope. The festival and solo concert were unforgettable.
This story appears in the May 2019 First Anniversary issue of The El Segundo Scene.
